Many “dittoheads” are no doubt still in mourning over the passing of their savior, Rush Limbaugh, who most will tell you is simply irreplaceable. Apparently Westwood One, the media corporation that hosted Limbaugh’s radio show, disagrees. Or if they agree, it’s less important to them than replacing him with someone at least marginally comparable to him in talent who can keep the money rolling in that Limbaugh did during his lifetime. This has led them to announce that longtime podcaster Dan Bongino will be the new “talent on loan from God” whose radio program will lauch on May 24, 2021 on weekday afternoons at 3:00pm Eastern US Time.
I’m not familiar with Bongino, although friends and acquaintances who listen to his podcasts and view his BitChute videos speak highly of him. He appears to be more Alt-Right than most other “Conservative” radio talk show hosts, which is certainly a plus if true. My biggest concern would be his ability to stay that way once he goes “mainsteam.” Anyone who steps into Rush Limbaugh’s shoes is going “mainsteam,” something that Limbaugh himself demonstratred beginning with the George W. Bush presidency when he clearly chucked much of his conservative philosophical underpinnings and slowly degenerated into a GOP/neocon yes-man, which in turn made him less interesting and cost him a large share of his audience (which included yours truly back in the early 90s). I’m sure that there were many reasons for this, but I wouldn’t doubt for a second that the (((sponsors))) of his programming played a major role in “convincing” him to tone down his more paleocon nationalist side. Will Bongino face a similar challenge and undergo a similar transformation? Only time will tell.
